Economic absurdities that Democrats must expose:
...because it's wrong to penalize success and hard work.
...therefore, we should eliminate the capital gains tax.
...After all, they came from, and understand, business.
...even though it is based on pitting the worlds' workers against each other.
...union bosses are only out for themselves.
...and the more the rich have, the more will trickle down to everyone else.
...Democrats are communists, or at least, socialists at heart.
...so when we tax wealthy investors, we lose jobs.
...so investors, not workers, create wealth.
...so we should give them all the tax breaks possible.
...Democrats just want to tax and spend today.

General Issues:
...for those of Indonesia, Mexico, China and India.
...and how not to do it again.
...and the "crisis" is just a ploy by those who want to destroy it.
...Republicans' most important propaganda technique.
...and get the media on your side

First of all, if they had followed the advice in this website, and used many of the materials it presented, they would easily have won. Everything was going for them, and they were on the right side of most of the issues, except for the those relating to personal morality.
But forget all the nonsense that Democrats should give up their stands on personal moral issues. That’s not why they lost. They lost because they didn’t appeal to the more important Christian moral standards that relate to workers and the poor, everyone who cares about the environment and our stewardship of it, and the criteria for a “just war.” They never presented these issues as moral—as well as practical—issues. As a result, the Republicans came across as the moral party. See Why Values Are the Key to Winning Elections.
The core of the problem is that the party is dominated by the same people who dominate the Republicans. Mostly corporations and the rich and powerful. Therefore, they have a difficult time distinguishing themselves from Republicans on the most important issues that should win them elections. In the last election they needed to:
- Clearly describe how they were going to create more good jobs in the U.S. Mostly, that means turning back NAFTA and the WTO, just as Dennis Kucinich said he would do.
Kerry merely said he would (weakly) remove tax incentives for outsourcing, and would appoint a committee to “study the matter.” In other words—he would do nothing of any real consequence.
- Clearly separate today’s Democrats from Bill Clinton. Not just the blowjob thing, but most of his economic policies as well. Southern political candidates were very effective in associating Clinton and the Democrats with NAFTA, even though it was really a program that Clinton stole from the Republicans, and they wanted it desperately. It was a boon for wealthy investors and international corporations. It’s the biggest single reason workers have virtually no chance of negotiating for higher wages today. See The Real Reason Clinton Was a Disaster.
- Educate working-class southerners and fundamentalist Christians about who their friends really are. This one would take a lot of time, but it would have been great if we had at least started the process. See How to Change Voters’ Bias Against Liberals, The Republican "Southern Strategy" is the Issue; NOT the Confederate Flag
- Explain the real effects of cutting taxes on the wealthy. See 1993 Deficit Reduction: A lesson on taxes, economic growth, and jobs—as reported by America’s premier CONSERVATIVE financial daily news publication: The Wall Street Journal
- Explain why wealth is really a zero-sum game. See Wealth Really Is a Zero-Sum Game.
The above list could go on almost indefinitely, but I would simply be repeating the whole website. So, check out the rest yourself.
Especially note “The Conservative Financial Press," and Previous Weeks’ Conservative Press (links can be found at the bottom of the previous file). It’s a running commentary, updated daily, about how the Republicans’ own financial publications expose their real agenda for making our country an aristocracy, instead of a capitalist democracy.
